The family moved to Bartley when Wayne was nine years old. He graduated from Bartley High School in 1953.
Wayne joined the US Army in 1956, serving two years, then later joined the US Air Force serving another two years.
On May 18, 1963, Wayne was united in marriage to Alice Blume in Indianola, Nebraska.
Wayne worked for the Hilton's on the farm, later he worked as a mechanic for Heillman Chevrolet, the Bartley John Deere. In 1985, Wayne opened Wayne's Repair shop, running that until 2001, when he retired. Wayne mowed the Cambridge (NE.) Fairview Cemetery for the past several years.
Wayne had many interests: he built his own radio control planes and he loved to fish for walleye in South Dakota and many other lakes in the area. Wayne for many years enjoyed garden tractor pulling. He was the family photographer. Wayne enjoyed visiting, especially at coffee time at either Shirley K's or Casey's.
Wayne was preceded in death by: parents and siblings: Harlan Hansen; Harriet Frahm; Marie Goodwin; Allan Hansen; Carroll Hansen and Lona Jean Hansen.
Wayne is survived by: wife, Alice Hansen of Cambridge; daughters, Doris and husband, Jerrod Burke of Curtis; Barbara and husband, Rob Pinkal of Indianola; son, Mike, of Cambridge; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Lyle and wife, Pat Hansen of Bartley; sister, Lillian and husband, Kenneth Deckard of Tecumseh, Nebraska and sister-in-law, Patricia Hansen of Columbus, Nebraska.
Interment was in the St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Cambridge, Nebraska. Military honors will be held graveside.
