Funeral services were held here Friday at 1:30 p.m. in Zion United Church of Christ for Paul Conrad, 86, who died last Wednesday in St Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids. He had been in failing health for some time.


The Rev Paul Jordan officiated at the funeral. Cheryl Eichelberger was organist and a Mixed Quartet sang hymns. Serving as pallbearers were Allen Conrad, Myron Conrad, Elmer Conrad, Marvin Conrad, Edward Conrad and Raymond Conrad. Mrs Henry Twachtmann and Mrs Elmer Conrad were in charge of flowers. Interment was in Inland Cemetery, near Bennett.


Mr Conrad, a native of Bennett, was the son of Fred Conrad and his wife Louise, nee Rixe. He was married to Emma Peter in 1913 at Bennett. They farmed for a number of years south of Lowden before moving to Lowden where they resided until her death. He then lived with his son-in-law and daughter until several months ago when he became a resident at a Rest Home in Tipton.


Survivors include his daughter, Mrs Lorenz (Carolyn) Deerberg, of Bennett; three grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and one brother, Julius of Lowden.
