She attended First Baptist High School and graduated from St. Margaret's Episcopal High School. Allyson attended Winthrop University and graduated from Roper School of Nursing.
Allyson found her calling in nursing and initially was employed as a nurse at St. Francis Hospital. She was employed as Household Manager by the family of Heyward and Anne Rivers Siddons. Regarding Allyson, Mrs. Siddons stated, "She lit up my life."
Allyson is survived by parents Don and Susan Schweiger of Charleston and Michael and Connie Key of The Villages, FL, brother Andrew Key (Lauren); step sisters Genevieve Schweiger and Sandra Hernandez; step brother Nicholas Schweiger; grandmother Peggy Key; aunts and uncles, John and Anna Ellerbe; Frank and Myra Menna; Raymond and Mary Schweiger; April Mitchum and dear friend Amy Jenkins Baldwin.
Her funeral will be held, September 17, 2013, in The Cathedral Church of St. Luke and St. Paul at 10:00 am. Interment will be in the Churchyard. The family will receive friends the 16th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in J. Henry Stuhr Downtown Chapel.
