Ulmont T. Ammon Jr., 77, a retired supervisory civil engineer for the Mississippi River Commission, died of heart failure Sunday at home. Services were Tuesday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with burial in Cedar Hills Cemetery.
Mr. Ammon was a Vicksburg native. He was a graduate of Carr Central High and Mississippi State University. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church. He was a former Boy Scout leader and Explorer adviser for Troop 105. He was a former Sunday school teacher in the youth department. He was a member of W.S. Paxton Masonic Lodge and a former member of the Vicksburg Kiwanis Club.
Survivors include: wife, Geraldine; sons, Ted Ammon of Jackson and Wesley Ammon of Starkville; daughters, Cherie Ammon Steele of Starkville and Susan Ammon Blades of San Diego; stepbrother, T.W. Ammon of Pearl; and nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
