My cousin Barbara was born in Alexander Linn Hospital in Sussex, NJ.
On Barbara's Father's side her grand-father was Harry Hill.
On her mother's side, her grand-parents were Dorotha Vanderhoof Northrop and Frank D. Northrop, They married in 1918 and had 5 girls.
Barbara's mother, Ida Mae Northrop Hill was the 3rd child born in May of 1922. She meet Miner Hill and they married in 1940. Together they had 3 girls. Barbara Lee(1941-2002), Betty Lou Hill Matacle,and Brenda Louise Hill Armstrong (1945-1997).
Barbara was a graduate of Canisteo Central School in Canisteo, NY and from the Sate University of New York in Geneseo. She was a Speach Therapist and Audiologist while at Geneseo. She was Active in "Kappa Delta Pi" and "Sigma Alpha Eta" while in college and was named in WHO's WHO IN AMERICAN COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES.
Barbara married and in 1967 gave birth to twins, Heather Lee and Ricky M. Through the years they lived in NY, NJ, and Maryland.
She was a member of Grace Bible Church. She was also a Sunday School teacher and librarian. She was employed by the "Maryland Easter Seal Society" and taught in schools in Maryland and NY states. She owned and operated her own bussiness,-"B.L.Sutton Designs."
Barbara passed-away on Thursday, Aug. 29th,2002, after a long battle with Cancer. She's survived by her husband, Edgar L. Sutton,(has since passed-away in 2003). Her Children, Heather Lee Sutton Yamamura ,and Pastor Ricky M. Roche. A Sister, Betty Lou Hill Matacle. Three Step Children, Four Step-Grand Children. Her Parents, Ida Mae Northrop Hill and Miner Hill, and a bunch of Cousins, nieces and hephews.
She was predeased in death by her sister, Brenda L. Hill Armstrong (Cancer).
A Memorial Service was held at Grace Bible Church in Greencastle,Pa. Barbara's Son, Rick pastor of the church officiated.
Barbara loved music. Songs during the Service were, "Rejoice the Lord is King!","Majesty", "We Don't Need To Understand " "He The Pearly Gates Will Open" and "Finally Home", which was sung beautifully by her daughter, Heather.
At Barbara's request in lieu of Flowers, Memorial donations may be made to "Grace Bible Church or Antietam Bible College Scholarship Fund.
Barbara donated her body for medical reseach and education.
Barbara loved family very much. She was a great organizer. She loved the art of cooking and Baking. Like her sister, Brenda, she had a deep love of books. She was a great reader and had a marvelous memory of everything she read. She also was a marvelous letter writer, very humorous. Barbara adored animals and the wonders of nature. She spent many happy hours walking in fields and woodlands. Autumn was the most endearing season to her.
Barbara's farewell verse to all is John 17:4- "I Have Finished The Work Which, You Have Given Me To Do".
