HAMPTON - Adaline Alvora Greene Christian, born Nov. 22, 1925, to the late Percy and Tina Greene, went home to be with the Lord July 2, 2005. She graduated from George P. Phenix High School in 1944 and attended North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro, N.C., and Norfolk State College in Norfolk, Va. Adaline retired from Langley AFB as an IBM operator with more than 20 years of service. She was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church, Hampton, Va., where she served as a member of the Christian Fellowship Choir, the Mothers Board and the Church Aide Club No. 2. She also was a member of the Needle and Book Club of Hampton. Adaline Christian is survived by her loving and supportive husband, Ambrose O. Christian; two daughters, Bernadine (Leon Sr.) Mizelle and Adgeline Hill; four grandchildren, Erika Hill, Corretta (Calvan) Johnson, Dora Alexander and Leon Mizelle Jr.; three great-grandchildren, Morris and Jamal Johnson and Kaylyn Kates; one brother, James Wilfred (Frances) Greene; one sister-in-law, Lorraine (Jimmy) Bond; three brothers-in-law, Chauncey Walker Sr., Julius Lee and Jimmy Bond; and a host of family and friends. A celebration of life will be held at noon Thursday, July 7, at First Baptist Church, 229 N. King St., Hampton, by the Rev. Calvin D. White, pastor of Union Bethel Baptist First Church, Chesapeake, Va. Interment will follow at Veterans Memorial Garden of Hampton. Viewing will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, at Ronald C. Perkins Funeral Home, Queen St., Hampton, and from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, July 7, at First Baptist Church, Hampton. Family and friends will assemble at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 7, at 18 Whipple Drive, Hampton. Arrangements are entrusted to Ronald C. Perkins Funeral Home, Ronald C. Perkins Jr., funeral director.
