Loyd Ed Lee, 82, of Artesia and San Jon, New Mexico, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, June 16, 2012. Services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Artesia on Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. and at the Ed Lee Sports Complex in San Jon, New Mexico on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 9:00 a.m.

Ed proudly served in the Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. Ed married Carolyn Sue Sudderth, on August 28, 1954. He graduated from Eastern New Mexico University and went on to teach, coach, and later became Principal and Superintendent at San Jon. He then moved his family to Artesia, New Mexico in 1973, where he became principal and (fished!) finished out his career in education. Not, satisfied with retirement, he was elected as Municipal Judge where he served for 9 years.
Ed's Christian faith and his commitment to the Lord, was reflected in every aspect of his life. The testimonies of former students he taught and players he coached are a reflection of his unwavering faith and innate moral compass. He will be missed most by his children, grand- and great-grand children, numerous other relatives and the many students, friends, and others whose lives he graced.

Ed will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and willing mentor to all. He always put family and others before himself. He touched the lives of many in all aspects of life, whether it was from coaching, teaching, serving in the church, or participating in one of his favorite pastimes—fishing and camping.

Donations in honor of Ed can be made to the charity of your choice.
