Roberta O. Boyd
Roberta O. Boyd, 93, a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community, Meadville since March 1982 died there Thursday, October 5, 2006. She was born in Steuben Co., N.Y. January 7, 1913 a daughter of Dan and Maude Chase Bennett. She married the Rev. Herbert E. Boyd January 15, 1935 and he preceded her in death January 6, 2002. She was a graduate of Taylor University in Upland, Ind. She had been secretary and treasurer of the former Women's Society of Christian Service (WSCS) of the former Erie Conference of the United Methodist Church, former treasurer of Ruth Smith Childrens Home of Sheffield, N.Y. She also served as organist in several churches during her lifetime as well as at Wesbury United Methodist Community. She was a member of Stone United Methodist Church, Meadville and its United Methodist Women. Survivors, include one daughter, Margaret Palinosky and her husband, Steven, of Owego, N.Y.; three sons, Boyne F. Boyd of Kane, Pa., Dan R. Boyd of Gaston Ind., and Alan C. Boyd of Kane, Pa.; three grandchildren, Steven Palinosky, Susan Palinosky and Amy Anderson and two great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Bennett. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville. The funeral service will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Edward Boyd, Brother-in-law, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Bobbie Nelson. Burial will be in Westfield Cemetery, Westfield, N.Y. The family suggests memorials be made to Wesbury United Methodist Community, 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville, PA 16335.
