DR. GOLDEN ROMNEY
FUNERAL SET WEDNESDAY IN EDGEMONT
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in Edgemont Fourth Ward Chapel for Dr. Golden Romney, 60, a former Provoan who died Wednesday of a heart attack at his home in Pullman, Wash.
Friends may call at the Berg Mortuary of Orem, 500 N. State, Monday until 1:30 p.m. Interment will be in the East Lawn Memorial Hills.
Dr. Romney was born Dec. 24, 1902, in Juarez, Mexico, a son of Thomas C. and Lydia C. Nagel Romney. He married Zelma Young in the Salt Lake Temple.
A graduate of Vernal High School and Brigham Young University, Dr. Romney received his Ph.D. degree from New York University, was a former head of the physical education department of Oswego College in New York, coached at Gila College in Thatcher, Ariz., and at the time of his death was dean of the College of Physical Education and Recreation at Washington State University.
An active member of the LDS Church [The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints], Dr. Golden was president of the Lewiston Stake in Washington.
Surviving are his widow, Pullman; a son and two daughters, Dr. Douglas Romney, Yakima, Wash.; Mrs. Jay (Ruth Ann) Naylor, Provo; and Mrs. Duane (Janet) Stone, Santa Maria, Calif.; six grandchildren; a stepmother, Edith Hansen Romney, Salt Lake City; two brothers and four sisters, Dr. Miles C. Romney, Oregon; Owen T. Romney; Mrs. Deron S. (Pauline) Thomander, New Jersey; Mrs. Jay (Lucille) Painter, Idaho Falls, Ida.; Mrs. Allen (Kathrine) White, Susanville, Calif. and Mrs. Heber (Genevieve) Moulton, Bountiful.
