He was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Army as an Engineer. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. He was formerly a truck driver for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for 20 years and retired in 1977.
He was preceded in death by his wife Jennie Kruszeski Acquiesta; two sisters, Loretta Pellican and Nancy Concilla; a brother, Anthony Chriest; and a great-granddaughter.
He is survived by a son, Joseph Chriest and his wife, Carol, of Erie; two daughters, Dolores Theiss and her husband, Robert, of Erie and Elaine Milani and her husband, David, of Erie; a brother, John Chriest of Meadville; three sisters, Clara Williams Ackley, Nina Pierce, and Margaret Piazza, all of North East; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Burial will be at St. Gregory Cemetery.
