Katie Elizabeth Stroud Creak, resident of the Somerville Community and wife of the late Charles M. "Happy" Creak, Jr. departed this life Wednesday evening, September 11, 2013 at the National Health Care Center in Somerville where she resided for three weeks. She was 89 years of age and died following an illness of several weeks.

Services for Mrs. Creak will be at 2 Saturday afternoon, September 28th at the Somerville First Baptist Church with visitation one hour before services. Interment will be in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Creak was born November 14, 1923 in McKenzie, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ely Stroud and Zora McCaleb Stroud. She received her education in the Tennessee Public School Systems and was a lifelong resident of Tennessee. She was married in 1958 to Charles Mabry "Happy" Creak, Jr., a plumber and electrician, who preceded her in death on August 12, 2005.

Mrs. Creak was a member of the Somerville First Baptist Church and lived in the Somerville Community for over 50 years. She was a homemaker throughout her life and was also employed as a secretary for the West Tennesee Realty and Insurance and as an agent for Shelter Insurance. She was a people person who enjoyed special times with her family. Her favorite pastimes were flowers, birds, politics and campaigning.

Mrs. Creak is survived by three daughters, Melanie Creak of Somerville, Cindy Lee of St. Louis, MO, Carla Thompson of Whiteville, TN; twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Cathy Guenther, Kelly Bullwinkel.
