Mrs. Royal Starkey Passes Away -
The community was grieved when the telegram came that Mrs. Royal Starkey had passed away Sunday, March 31st at her home at Iliff, Colo., where she with her loved ones had gone just one month ago to make that her future home. A loving Christian woman has gone to reap her reward, for none who knew her, but could tell of some loving deed of kindness done. She was brought here for burial and her funeral was preached at Glenwood Church on Tuesday at 2 p.m. by her former pastor Rev. Henderson of Silver Creek. In his sermon, the pastor told of her motherly advice and encouragement to him in his first year of ministry in a strange community and how it had gave him new zeal and determination to overcome all obstacles and push steadily on. Where there was sickness or suffering in the neighborhood she was sure to be there and her loving hands have so often helped to relieve pain as all of her old neighbors can testify in the Mt. Zion neighborhood where she made her home the most of the time for seventeen years. They will ever remember her in loving kindness. She has gone to her heavenly home, but her loving deeds live on and on.

Those who came to be present at the funeral were: Royal Starkey, husband, Lee Starkey, her son, Mrs. John Sharman, a daughter, and husband John Sharman, the daughter in Dakota was unable to attend.

Deliah M. Eason was born in Story county, Iowa April 18, 1861 and departed this life March 31, 1918 at Iliff, Colo., at the age of 57 years, 11 months and 13 days.

She was united in marriage to Royal Starkey June 13, 1880. To this union eight children were born, five boys and three girls; five having died in early childhood. The living are Mrs. H. L. Bruce of South Dakota, Mrs. John Sharman and Lee Starkey, both of Iliff, Colo. Her last illness lasting 10 days of which she was a great sufferer but uncomplaining, awaiting the coming of the Lord.

The family have the loss of a faithful wife and loving mother.

The sympathy of the community goes with the sorrowing ones to their home in Colorado.
The remains were laid to rest in Glenwood cemetery by the side of a daughter.
