CARSTENS ~ Joseph Eugene Carstens, Sr., 65, of 1002 Omar, died in a local hospital at 6:35 a.m. Wednesday. A native and a lifelong resident of Houston, he was a member of Third Presbyterian Church and Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. He was a retired engine foreman of the M.-K.-T. Railway, having completed 46 years of service before retiring. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Maggie Keenan Carstens of Houston; two daughters, Mrs. Jess W. ( Erlyne) Edmundson, Jr., of Houston and Mrs. R. F. (Mary Ellen) Graham, Jr., of La Feria; two sons, Joseph Eugene Carstens, Jr., and Keenan Oscar Carstens; a sister, Mrs. Sadie Carstens Bauer, all of Houston; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Burial in Hollywood Cemetery.
