According to his death announcement, William died in a local hospital after a short illness while visiting his daughter.
Other than his mother, William was preceded in death by his 24 year old son, 1 Lt James Brundrett Colt, who died in World War II fighting with the 392nd Fighter Squadron 367th Fighter Group in Luxemburg.
He was survived by his father, his wife, and three of his children.
