Gerald P. "Bud" Crowley, 90, formerly of Enfield, widower of Mary "Mae" (Bruno) Crowley (2002), entered into eternal peace Wednesday September 11, 2013 at The Suffield House.

The son of the late Michael and Mabel (Watton) Crowley, Bud was born in the Thompsonville section of Enfield and had lived in the community most of his life. A U.S. Army WW II Veteran, he served his country honorably and was a member of the VFW.

Following his service, Bud was employed by the former Bigelow Sanford Co. in Thompsonville from 1946-1971 where he also served as secretary treasurer for the AFLCIO. He was later employed at GE retiring after many years with the company. His civic involvement with his home community was tireless as he served as councilman for the Enfield Town Council beginning in 1969 serving 25 years. He served on the Enfield Planning and Zoning Commission as well as the Zoning board of Appeals.

Bud also served as a Volunteer Fireman for District 2 in Enfield. He was a former Sheriff at the Enfield Superior courthouse for over 10 years, and also was a member of the Enfield Housing Authority committee. Bud also enjoyed sports and was an avid Red Sox fan.

Besides his wife Mae, Bud was predeceased by his son, Michael Crowley, two brothers, Frances "Wee" Crowley, and James "Slick" Crowley, a sister, Margaret Knowlton.
