Leo Alphonsus Baker was born on July 4 1902, in Dysart, Dean Township, Pennsylvania. Son ofThomas H. Baker and Mary Ellen Sheehan, he was the brother of Gertrude, Cecilia, Anna, Annie, Joseph and Bernard. He married Grace Mary Noel, and they were the parents of Rita (Sister M. deRicci, IHM), Eugene, Paul Hugh, John Anthony, Joseph Edgar, Leo A. Jr., Dorothy (Sister M. Gracette, IHM), Melvin James (Moe), Mary Louise, Robert, Janet Ann, Mary Grace; and three children who died in infancy: Mabel, Ellen Marie and Thomas. The family lived in Altoona and Loretto, PA. He was employed as a moulder on the steam railroad in Altoona. Leo died on January 16, 1962 in Loretto, and was buried in St. Michael Cemetery, Loretto, PA.

Surviving is his widow, the former Grace Noel, and these children: Sister M. deRicci, IHM, Cresson; Paul and Leo, Jr., both of Altoona; John, Conemaugh, R.D.; Joseph Karns City, PA; Sister M. Gracette, IHM, Asbury Park, N.J.; Mrs. Margaret Janssen, Tucson, Ariz.; Mrs. Mary Louise Plazek, Garfield Heights, Ohio; Melvin and Robert, both of Cresson; Janet, Grace and Eugene, all at home. He was a brother of Mrs. Thomas Dunegan and Bernard, St. Augustine, and Mrs. Ann Forney, Altoona.
Solemn requiem mass was sung at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Michael's Catholic Church, Loretto. Rev. Father Paul Lenz was celebrant. Interment followed in the church cemtery."
