Richard Gaymer was born about 1565 in England, probably in Terling, Essex. His parents are unknown. He married in Terling, on July 23, 1590, Margaret Mason. Richard was a prosperous miller in Terling, who was literate, a land owner, and served on juries. Richard and Margaret had five children baptised in Terling between 1592 and 1602, but Margaret died just over a month after the birth of the last child. She was buried in Terling on July 2, 1602. Richard then married Joan Robinson on February 19, 1603 in Terling. Richard and Joan had six children baptised in Terling, but four of them died before reaching their teens. Richard wrote his will on October 8, 1613 in Terling, and probably died the same day, for he was buried in Terling on October 10, surely in the All Saints Churchyard.
