Elder Lee Roden, well known Primitive Baptist preacher, died at Frankston Thursday evening, it was learned here Friday by his friend, L.D. Rose.

Funeral services were held on Friday afternoon at 4:00 with Mr. Rose officiating. Interment was in the Frankston cemetery.

Levi Thomas Roden was the son of James Roden and Julia F. Burkett. He married Sarah Melissa Bryant the daughter of Columbus Bryant & Mariah Brock on the 13th of August 1874 in Asbury, Marshall, Alabama, her widowed father Columbus married Mary Ann Isbell in 1859, daughter of Rev Levi Isbell the Baptist minister of the Old Bethel Church in Asbury. Rev. Levi Isbell's brother John was married to Sarah Roden the great-aunt of Levi "Lee "Thomas Roden.

Lee & Sallie Roden were the parents of seven children, Mary Francis "Ellen" Roden McDonald Smith, Laura Jane Roden McDonald, Rosa Mae Roden Scifres, Julia Elizabeth Roden Pope, Emma Lee Roden McFadin Jeter, Wiley Bristow Roden & Archer Miller Roden.

In 1901 Levi & Sallie and their younger children moved from Anderson county to Chalk Mountain Erath county Texas, their two oldest daughters Ellen & Laura married McDonald cousins and moved to Oklahoma.. Levi was a Baptist Lay minister and probably ministered for the Primitive Baptist church in Chalk Mountain, after his wife Sallie's death in 1910 he moved to Oklahoma and was living close to his daughters when he married widow Mrs. Fannie Vaughn. Fannie died in Oklahoma in 1930 and after her death he returned to Frankston, Anderson, Texas were he was probably well known at the Old Bethel Church when he married widow Mrs. Elias M. Morrell on the 26th of August of 1933.. her nickname is "Tema" or "Temmie" and was married to Elder Lee Roden at the time of his death...Tema passed away in 1953 at the age of 80.. her children dropped her married name Roden and buried her next to her 1st husband.

On his death certificate place of death is Frankston, Anderson, Texas, internment Bethel Cemetery, the cause of death is Malaria, the informant is his son-in-law C.P. Pope. On the death certificate is written married and his wife's name is "Tennie" .. that was misspelled by the clerk writing down the information, the correct spelling is "Temmie"
