DEATON, JOYCE EVELYN ATCHLEY - age 81, of Strawberry Plains, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2013. She was a lifetime member of Thorn Grove Baptist Church. Joyce was a former employee of Standard Knitting Mill and the Knox County Court Clerk's Office. Preceded in death by loving husband, William L. "Bill" Deaton; father, Mack Atchley; mother, Dulcie Atchley Thomas; and sisters, Emily Humphrey, Shirley Merritt, and Maxine Lee. Survived by brother, Tom Atchley and wife, Peggy; special nieces, Carol and Steve Griffin and family, Cheri and Chris Bell and family, Emily and Bobby Stanton and family, and Janice and John Cox and family. Special thanks to the caring staff at Holston Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be 7:30 p.m., Thursday, September 12, 2013, at Thorn Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Tatum officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:45 a.m., Friday, at Thorn Grove Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. interment.
