Bennie was married to Lucille Doty in La Crosse on March 27, 1909. For awhile they lived in Minnesota, but had resided in Beloit the last 30 years. He worked at Fairbanks Morse and Company and was a member of the Atonement Lutheran Church. Bennie was survived by his wife; two sons: Lawrence (1927-2005) and Charles (1917-1992); four daughters: Marie Kirkeeng Goff (1910-1978), Pearl Hilda Kirkeeng Becker (1912-2004), Adeline Kirkeeng Swain (1914–2012), and Marjorie Lucile Kirkeeng Goff (1919–1959); 18 grandchildren; a brother; and three sisters. He was preceded in death by three sisters.
