James Irving BEEBE/BEEBY was one of 13 children of Robert BEEBY and Mary (Irving) BEEBY, both of England. He moved to Oakland, Alameda, California in the 1850s. In about 1860, James married Elizabeth J. (Linden) BURDICK, the widow of Russell BURDICK Jr., who drowned in a sailing accident in the Saramento River. Russell was also from Central Square, Oswego, New York and may have come to California at the same time as James. James was a farmer. James and Elizabeth had two children: Mary E. BURDICK b. 1857 (daughter of Elizabeth and Russell) and Harrie Linden BEEBE b 1867 m. F.D. HUDSON.
