In 1930 he and his wife lived in a house they owned in Manson, WA. They did have a radio. Both of them worked as laborers on a fruit farm.
In 1940 they lived on a farm they owned in Manson. Their home was valued at $200. He worked as an orchardist in an apple orchard.

F. R. Dewell Passes Away
Fredrick Raymond Dewell, 63, of 715 Jefferson street, passed away Tuesday evening at his home. Mr. Dewell, a native of Michigan, was a retired farmer and had made his home here for two and a half years.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Bernice Dewell; one son, Thomas S. Dewell, two sisters, Mrs. Nan Richardson of Chelan, Wash., and Mrs. Henrietta Richardson of Bellingham, Wash.; and three grandchildren, Carley, Bernice and Thomas Dewell, all of Salinas.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday from Struve and Laporte, with interment following at the family plot in the IOOF cemetery.
