*****************************************************Ada J. Ault, 88, of Silver Spring, Md., passed peacefully on Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, six days after suffering a catastrophic stroke.

She and her husband Alfred L. "Al" Ault were Valley residents for nearly 40 years, before moving to the Washington, D.C. area in 1965. Al was a former reporter for the Sayre Evening Times, covering Waverly news.

Ada was born Jan. 3, 1925, in Tunkhannock, Pa., to the late Clark Oliver and Hilda Dix Oliver Casselbury.

After a few years in the Tunkhannock area, the family moved to Athens. Ada graduated from Athens High School in 1943.

On July 23, 1945, Ada married Alfred Ault, son of Tracey and Bessie Ault of Sayre. After Al's military service, they settled in Waverly, New York.

Their son, Thomas Alfred Ault (Tom), was born February 14, 1946. Ada and her family spent many wonderful years in the Valley with their extended family and friends. They moved from the area in 1965 when Al, who was working for International Business Machines (IBM), was transferred to its facility in Gaithersburg, Md.

During World War II, Ada worked for the local Rations Board and afterwards dedicated herself to being a full-time homemaker. Her family and friends were the love of her life.

Besides being a devoted mother and wife, Ada was interested in all people. She was always quick to strike up a conversation or to lend a helping hand. Her mother, Hilda, lived with Ada and her family from 1966 until her death in 1989, at the age of 101, and there is little doubt that Ada's loving care contributed to her mother's long and happy life.

Ada was active in the Potomac United Methodist Church, volunteering in many activities. She also relished sports at all levels, from local high school football games to the Washington Redskins, Baltimore Ravens and Baltimore Orioles.

Ada is survived by Al, her loving husband of 68 years; her son, Tom, and his wife Aldene Medbery Ault; two grandchildren, Kristen Adashi (Timothy Ellis) of Baltimore, Md. and David Ault (Katherine Goodwin Ault) of Easton, Md.; three great-grandchildren, Caroline and James Ault and Samuel Ellis. She also is survived by a niece, Nancy Walker Bonner of Wagener, S.C.; and a nephew, Robert Walker of Williamsport, Pa.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Walker of Athens.

A memorial service will be held at Potomac United Methodist Church, Potomac, Md., on Oct. 6, 2013 at 2 p.m. followed by a reception for friends and family. Interment of ashes at Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, will follow at a later time.
