Early Life: Carl was born November 28, 1919, in Brigham City, Utah, to Roland Adolphus and Abigail Rees Madsen. He graduated from Box Elder High School in 1938, and attended the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: In 1949, he graduated from Utah State University, Phi Kappa Phi. On February 19, 1941, he married Jneil Andersen in the Logan Utah Temple. Always a hard worker, he successfully designed and manufactured hobby horses, sold throughout the west. He was both a journeyman carpenter and painter. He also taught Art at Dixon Junior High. He retired as an agent for State Farm Insurance. He was also successful in the real estate and apartment business. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in many positions, including a mission in Hartford, Connecticut, with his wife. He served in the Provo Utah Temple for twelve years. His hobbies include: white-water rafting, skiing, tennis, calligraphy, camping, hunting, fishing and art. Many homes display his artwork. He won many ski awards, including a first place nationally in the NASTAR competition. Carl David Madsen passed away peacefully from age-related illness, at his home, surrounded by his family in Orem, Utah, the evening of June 8, 2006. He was 86.
Survived By: His wife, Jneil; children: David (Marilynn) Madsen, Ronald (Sharon) Madsen, Jonathan (Karen) Madsen, Bruce (Shauna) Madsen, Annette Madsen, Andrew (Tammy) Madsen, Debora (Ray) Fergeson; siblings: Mildred Anderson, Clyde Madsen, Milton Madsen and Dorothy Bramwell; 35 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Preceded In Death By: A daughter, Sue; a son, Paul; his parents; brothers: Horace, Wayne, Fred and Delbert; sisters: Lola Tingey, Laura Webber, Afton Bingham, Amy Beecher and Grace Pratt.
