Sigrid R. Beck, age 16, born in Sweden, arrived at the Port of New York aboard the Ship Furnessia on April 22, 1889. There were no other persons named Beck on the ship's list. She was married June 17, 1899 in Kings Co., New York to John Bodine (1852-1901); they had one child, Helen Elsie Bodine, born March 13, 1900 in the Borough of Brooklyn, Kings Co., New York.

On November 22, 1903, Sigrid (Beck) Bodine married Theodore F. Sutherland (1870-1908). They had one child; Theodore F. Sutherland, born 1905, and was widowed again in 1908. She worked as a laundress and housekeeper to support herself and young children in Middletown, Connecticut and Brooklyn, New York. No occupation was listed in 1930 when she lived with her son and daughter-in-law; but in 1940 she is enumerated with and the housekeeper for the owners of a Delicatessen in Brooklyn. She also became a U.S. Citizen in 1940 in Brooklyn.
