He was born in Jonesboro, the oldest son of Col. Alexander J. Nimmo. He was a lawyer. He married in the 1870s Almeda Donehew. He left a widow, several sons and daughters, one sister, Mrs. John S. Alexander, of Couer d'Alene, Idaho, and one brother, Charles F. Nimmo, of Cincinnati, Ohio.
