Floyd Moyer, 93, passed away September 6, 213. He was born January 1, 1920 in Deer Creek, Oklahoma to William & Louise Moyer. Floyd's study of Music at Oklahoma A & M was interrupted by his service in the Navy during WWII. He joined the Navy School of Music. He met the love of his life, Jean, during his service in Washington D.C. They married after his tour of duty in Hawaii. Upon discharge from the Navy he completed his degree. Floyd poured his life into his students and family as a teacher, principle, and band director in Oklahoma schools at Fairfax, Idabel and Okmulgee. He also served as church choir director in those communities. In 1970 he joined the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association in Oklahoma City to oversee and organize competitive events in sports and music throughout the state. Throughout his life he enjoyed the hobbies of fishing, golfing, photography, and woodworking. Floyd and Jean enjoyed traveling in their Airstream and sharing that experience with their grandchildren. Thy moved to Spanish Cove in 1996. Floyd is preceded in death by his parents, wife Jean, brother Alan and sister, Francis Linn. He is survived by his two children, Robert and wife, Janette and Christine; four grandchildren , Adam and wife, Julie, Aaron and wife, Jenny, Alec and wife, Rosalie and Anna; five great grandchildren; one sister, Mary Duerksen and a host of other loved family and friends. Services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, September 10 at the First United Methodist Church in Yukon, Oklahoma with viewing beginning at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, Donations can be made in his honor to Spanish Cove, Crossroads Hospice, or Reese's Rainbow to support the adoption of Floyd's great-grandson, Moses Moyer.
