Nina Sylvia Olson-Senff was born 6 Jan 1903 in Hendricks, Lincoln Co., MN to Sivert Gulbranson & Serene (Winter)Olson. Her parents immigrated, Sivert from Norway and Serena from Sweden. After Nina was born they homesteaded in Lemmon, SD. Nina graduated from Jones Public School-Dist. #10 in Perkins, SD. Then the family moved to Dazey, Barnes Co., ND in 1909. Nina graduated from Dazey High School in 1924. She was a devout Seventh Day Adventist and belonged to the church in Georgetown, MN as well as Stanley, ND in her later years when she was living in Tioga, in western ND where she and her husband Marion lived in retirement.
Nina married Marion Senff on 26 Sep 1925 in Fargo, Cass Co., ND and lived there until 1939 when Marion opened up a garage in Georgetown, MN which he ran until retirement in 1961. All three of their children were born while they lived in Fargo. Marion died 7 Dec 1963 in Fargo. Nina lived out her days in Tioga, ND near her daughter, Bettys family.
Nina Senff died Christmas Eve, 24 Dec 1986 in Tioga, Williams Co., ND. Nina had 2 by-pass operations before her one leg was amputated and she went into cardiac arrest. She had blocked arteries which were the cause of her problems. Nina was 83 years 11 mos. old when she died. She was in Tioga Community Nursing Home in Tioga her final days. She was laid to rest beside Marion and their son Bob and her in laws, Charley and Lydia Senff.
Surviving Nina were her daughters, Betty (George) Neset of Tioga, ND, and Beverly (Robert) Quam of Georgetown, MN; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are 4 sisters: Vida Johnson of Everett, WA, Ruth Mills of Merritt Island, FL, Frances Hager of Breckenridge, MN, and Lucille Lewis of Renton, WA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Marion, her son Robert, sisters Alma Peterson, Pearl Rooker, Mervina Sprague; & brother Archie Olson.
