James Harve Hart was born a son of Benjamin Randall & Eliza Ann 'Bryant' Hart in Iowa where he was raised in Warren County. His parents were farmers.

James Harve Hart first married Margaret Jane 'Maggie' Fuller in June 1884 in Red Cloud, Webster County, Nebrska. She was born in 1862 and died in May 1885.

By 1891 James had moved to Sherman County, Kansas where he second married Celia Ophelia Culver in Griswold (now known as Kanarado.) They bought a farm with a house that was built before the border was drawn separating Colorado & Kansas. The house was found to be located right on the border. It has been recorded that their living area was in Kansas and their bedroom was in Kit Carson County, Colorado. Six of their children were born in the bedroom and their birth records are in Kit Carson County, Colorado. The family later lived in Anderson County, Kansas, Harrison County, Missouri and back to Anderson County, Kansas prior to 1910.

James & Celia bought a farm near Harris in Anderson County where they were farmers. James also trained horses. He bought, trained, traded & sold horses. He always had a good team and nearly always won the County Fair Pulling Contest.

Celia died in 1935. James lived on his farm and later with his daughter Alma 'Hart' Demoret until his death in 1942. Both are buried in Bethel Cemetery, near Harris, Anderson County, Kansas.
