1951: obituary: Elk Horn - Kimballton Review vol XXVII (27), No. 18, page 1 Thursday, August 9, 1951 : Mrs. Anna Nelsen Died August 2: Services Here Monday for Resident of Elk Horn Almost 50 Years: Mrs. Anna Nelsen, resident of the Elk Horn community for 50 years, died Thursday, Aug. 2 at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha. She had been in failing health for several months, entering the hospital July 5 and submitted to surgery July 11. She was born in Jutland, Denmark, July 20, 1883. When 19 years of age she came to this country with her parents, and the family located in the Elk Horn community. She was baptized and confirmed int he Elk Horn Lutheran Church and had been a member every since coming here. On Dec. 8, 1904 she was united in marriage to Peter L. Nelson of Elk Horn. They made their home in town for a number of years, and then moved to a farm two miles northeast of town. Mr. Nelsen died August 3, 1944. Surviving are three children Mrs. Matilda Christensen of Elk Horn, Mrs. Alma Kite of Walnut, and Richard Nelsen of Elk Horn, three grandchildren, two brothers, Jens Andersen of Clear Lake and Anton Andersen of Dell Rapids, S. Dak. Funeral Services were held at the home and Elk Horn Lutheran church Monday, Aug. 6, with Pastor Clarence E. Jensen officiating. Interment was in the Elk Horn Cemetery. Bearers were Leonard L. Johnson, Jens Carlsen, Paul Christensen, Harry Larsen, Henry C. Andersen, and George Mortensen."
