1935: obituary: Elk Horn - Kimballton Review vol 10, no. 4 (might be another digit after the 4), page 1 Thursday March 21, 1935 (copy cuts off some words) : "Kimballton Woman Died at Her Home Thursday Evening: Mrs. Anna K. Jorgensen Had Been Ill for Several Weeks: Mrs. Anna K. Jorgensen died at her home in Kimballton at 10:30 o'clock Thursday evening, March 14 after an illness of several weeks. She had contracted cancer and had been be fast most of this year. Mrs. Anna Katherine Jorgensen, born Andreasen, was born in Jyland, Denmark, June 10 1858. She came to America while still a young lady and made her first home with a brother, Jens Andreasen at Marne. She came to Kimballton in the 1890's, and on Nov. 8, 1894, she was united in marriage to Hans J. Jorgensen, a widower, with seven children. The young woman accepted her responsibilities cheerfully and possibly the highest tribute that can be paid to the departed is that her foster children always respected her as their mother, and considered her --- as theirs. --- children survive Mrs. Jorgensen. They are Wm. Jorgensen, Agnes Jorgensen, both of Kimballton, a twin sister of Wm. Jorgensen died in infancy. The six surviving foster children: Mrs. Chris Brodersen, ---; Dr. J. P. Jorgensen, Elk Horn; Peter Jorgensen, Audubon; Mrs. R. P. Larsen, Des Moines; Mrs. P. E. James, Elk Horn; and Mrs. Thos. N. Thomsen, Kimballton. Another, Alfred Jorgensen died almost seven years ago. --- brothers and a sister also survive. They are: Chris and Jens ---sen of Audubon; Hartvig ---sen of St. Edwards, Nebr. ---- Fred Rasmussen of --- Colorado. Funeral services were held at 1:30 o'clock Sunday at home and at 2 o'clock at the Kimballton Lutheran church. Rev. --- Jensen conducted the service. Interment was in the family --- in the Elk Horn cemetery. A friend of the deceased has written the following tribute: Anna Jorgensen was on of the --- mothers, plain, dutiful, --- thoughtful of the welfare --- children, surrounding them --- atmosphere of a christian ---. …"
