Michael Eugene Buffum, 57, Kokomo, passed away at 11:19 P.M. on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Michael was born on December 17, 1955 at St. Joseph Hospital, Kokomo, to the surviving Harold Eugene Buffum and late Aileen E. (Adams) Buffum. He graduated from Western High School in 1974 with the nickname of "Eugenius." At the age of 18, Michael started working for Chrysler. Through the years he was laid off, and during that time he worked for Cuneo Press, Servpro in Ohio, Fitch Brothers Construction and the Coca-Cola Bottling Plant before returning to Chrysler to finish 30 years with the company, retiring on May 1, 2007. On November 14, 1981, Michael married Susan E. Haddox at the Grace United Church of Christ in Columbus, Ohio, and she survives. Michael was a member at the U.A.W. post #685, enjoyed camping and fishing, and recently started creating unique jewelry pieces. He was quite handy, and even built a home for his family. Michael had a love for traveling, making his way to the west coast and to several music concerts around the country. He had a deep rooted passion for motorcycles and started riding at the age of 15. A couple of his favorite bikes were his Virago and his Roadstar 1600. He loved spending time with his family, who were his pride and joy, and with his dog, Po.

In addition to his wife, Michael is also survived by his children, Justin Michael Buffum and Adam Eugene (Teri Melton) Buffum; his grandchildren, Kristian Eugene Buffum, Makia Maree Turley, Natanha Clark and Taylor Clark; siblings, Eric Joe Buffum, Kim Ann Buffum and Rickey Lee Buffum; mother-in-law, Betty J. Elliott; sister-in-law, Della J. Rider; brother-in-law, Michael D. Royster, many nieces and nephews that held a special place in his heart; such as, Stacy Gimmey, Steve Gimmey and Rickey Lee Buffum Jr.,several cousins and their spouses, and many others that Michael adopted as his own children; such as, David Hunt.

Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Aileen E. Buffum; father-in-law, Kenneth L. Haddox; brother-in-law, Rodney C. Rider; and sisters-in-law, Sherry L. Fisher and Kathy Royster.

There will be a funeral service for Michael at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 8, 2013 at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 South Webster Street, Kokomo, Indiana with Pastor James Trippett officiating. On Monday, September 9, 2013, we will be taking Michael to his final resting place at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery, Kokomo, Indiana where he will be entombed following a committal service at 10:00 A.M. Michael's friends and family are welcome to join together for a time of visitation on Saturday, September 7, 2013 from 4:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. also at the mortuary.
