Mrs. McDermott was born Jan. 30, 1901, in Charleston, a daughter of James Heyward Haskell and Harriet Perry Haskell. She graduated from Crafts School, Ashley Hall, and Confederate College, all in Charleston. Surviving are a daughter, Katherine McDermott Baldwin, of Shelton; a sister, Mrs. James Lemons, of Charleston; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren."
