Orville James Davis was born 26 Sep 1920 in Nunda, Lake Co., SD to John W. & Ellen (Dixon) Davis. He farmed near Valley City, ND in 1942. While in North Dakota he met and married Vera Senff 26 Jul 1932 in Valley City. They had 4 children. In 1942 they moved to Vermillion, SD, where they spent most of their married life. Orville and Vera divorced in 1961.
Orville was baptised and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. He worked for the Sioux Alfalfa Meal Co. and the Sioux Rendering Co. as a truck driver for many years.
Orville remarried to Vernetta Minnie (Tank) Roecker on 16 Nov 1963 in Yankton, SD. They moved to Centerville in 1968 and operated the Koffe Kup Cafe until they retired in 1975.
Orville was 70 years 4 mos. and 20 days old when he died on 16 Feb 1981 in Viborg, SD. He and Vernetta, who died 25 Dec 1989 in Alcester, SD, are both buried in Eden Cemetery in Hudson, SD.
Surviving his death was his wife, Vernetta, his children: Arlene Vivian (E.R. Pete) Tiemann of Portland, OR, Gayle Orville (June) Davis of Vermillion, SD, Linda Armstrong of Portland, Oregon, and Lonnie (Rochella) Davis of Portland, OR; 13 grandchildren; brother Harold (Ardis)Davis, Austin, MN, sisters, Edith (Duane)Schocker of Austin, MN, and Nellie (Charlie) Marguette of Sedro Wooley, WA.
Preceding him in death were his parents, John & Ellen, brothers: Clyde A., Wesley, Joseph, Clarence, Frank, & John Davis; sisters, Agnes Mohr, Edith Thompson.
