John "Alex" Dunn, 81, retired chemical company salesman, of Lago Vista died March 16.

Born October 5, 1931 in Wheeling, WV. He attended St. Michael's elementary school and Linsly Military Institute, high school. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1953 with a degree in Accounting.

He worked in manufacturing for 7 years with the Wheeling Bronze Casting Co. and then in sales for Ashland Chemical Co., Foundry Products Division, for 30 years covering western Michigan and northern Indiana. During his working career, he was very active in the American Foundryman's Society and at the time of his retirement he served as a director on their national board. He retired in 1990, and after a short stay in Denver moved to Lago Vista, TX.

While in Lago Vista, he was very active in the Lago Vista Lions Club and received "Lion Of The Year" award in 2001 and was made a Melvin Jones Fellow in 2006. He was a charter member and coordinator of the local Meals on Wheels, treasurer of the Friends Of The Library, and served on various committees for the City of Lago Vista, and the Lago Vista POA. He also served as an election judge for Travis County.
