Services for James Carey "Snow" Garrett will be held 4:00 p.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with entombment in Evergreen Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be held 3:00-4:00 p.m. prior to the service.

Mr. Garrett, 88, died Friday, September 6, 2013 at his residence.

Born in Florence County, SC, October 28, 1924, he was the son of the late Edward Garrett and Sarah Scaff Garrett. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, retired from Dixiana Mills, and he attended the Dillon Church of God.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Mattie Lee Garrett of Dillon; daughters, Jane (Reid) Hamilton, Brenda Faye (Wayne) Johnson, and Debra (Glenn) Moody, all of Dillon; grandchildren, Shannon, Rene', Chris, Jay, Jamie, Matt, Kevin and Ryan; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Thelma Self of Lamar, SC.

Mr. Garrett was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Garrett, and his sisters, Daisy Ward, Juanita Bailey, and Dorothy Hyatt.

Memorials may be made to the Senior Citizens of the Dillon Church of God, 701 Hwy 301 N., Dillon, SC 29536, or to a charity of one's choice.

The family would like to thank Mr. Garrett's niece, Nancy Cox, caregivers, Shirley Leonard and Lucille Murphy, and the staff of Regency Hospice for the care given to him during his illness.

Note: "Snow" was also a member of the VFW.
