Florence Marie Acke, 89, of Clinton, Iowa, formerly of Moline, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005, at Bickford Cottage, Clinton.

Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, and 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Moline. Visitation is 3 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home, with a combined rosary at 3 p.m. by Sacred Heart Altar and Rosary Society and National Catholic Order of Foresters, Sacred Heart Court 956, where she was a member. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice or Sacred Heart Church. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline.

Florence was born April 6, 1915, in Kewanee, daughter of Edmond and Mary VanHecker VanDenBerghe. She married John B. Acke Feb. 6, 1937, in Moline.

Mrs. Acke was employed at Royal Neighbors, Rock Island, and Spiegels and Aldens Catalog.

She was a member of Center for Belgian Culture, Moline, where she had served as vice president. She also sang in the senior choir at church for 32 years.

Survivors include her husband, John; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and David Romont, Clinton; daughter-in-law, Sherry Acke, Carbondale, Colo.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Peter VanDenBerghe, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Florence was preceded in death by two sons, John and Paul.
