Retired N&W Official Dies
Richard A. Nelson Sr., 74. of Crewe, retired Norfolk and Western superintendent of terminals of Roanoke, died last night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. E. Wilson, of Crewe.

Mr. Nelson joined the Norfolk and Western Railway Sept. 15, 1902, and served for 51 years. He held supervisory positions in other cities until his promotion to superintendenet of terminals Dec. 19, 1938. He retired in 1954.

Besides hs daughter, he leaves a son, R. A. Nelson Jr., Crewe; two sisters and three brothers; Miss Helen Nelson and C. K. Nelson, Lynchburg; Mrs. Sam McSween, Florence, S.C.; Frank Nelson, Charleston, W.Va., and Robert Nelson, Atlanta, Ga., and two grandchildren.

A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. tomorrow at Gibson Memorial Episcopal Church at Crewe with burial in Crewe Cemetery.
