Leslie Henry Hurst was the fourth child born to Eddie and Alma Hurst on September 23, 1924 in Magnolia, Mississippi.
He gave his life to the Lord at an early age and was baptized at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Osaka, Mississippi. He received his education in Magnolia, Mississippi prior to entering the United States Navy.
He served in World War II from 1944-1946 in the Philippines, as well as Japan, receiving the "Victory Ribbon", "Philippine Liberation Ribbon" and the "Asiatic Pacific Ribbon".
He was united in holy matrimony with Alva Mae Simmons on March 3, 1951 and unto this union they had one daughter, Janet P. Hurst.
Leslie lived life to the fullest and enjoyed riding motorcycles with his nephews and friends. He enjoyed camping, building, baking and was known for his blackberry wine.
He worked for Northwest Foundry and Furnace Company as a crane operator for 36 years, retiring at age 62 in 1986.
He was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.
Leslie is preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Alma Hurst, one sister Carlena Seaberry, and three brothers, Ottway Hurst, Willie X. Hurst Sr. and Joseph P. Hurst.
