Richard Dean Aggen
(March 19, 1935-February 15, 1999)

OGDEN--Richard Dean Aggen, our beloved father, grandfather, brother,uncle and friend, went home to his Heavenly Father on Monday, February 15, 1999, following a courageous battle with Lou Gehrig's Disease.

He was born March 19, 1935 in Powers Lake, North Dakota, the son of Herman and Evelyn Evangeline Best Aggen.

In September of 1959, Richard married Marva Sorensen. They later divorced.

Richard spent the first eight years of his life in North Dakota. He moved to Utah in 1943 with his mother and stepfather, Purson H. Palmer. He resided in Utah for almost 56 years.He worked at Jetway (Stanray Pacific), Moss Ambulance Service and managed Avis Rent A Car before going to Hill Air Force Base as a Quality Assurance Specialist in 1965. He retired in 1990.

In addition to his children, dancing was the love of his life. In 1973 Richard started giving dance lessons at the Ron Driggs Dance Studio. Dancing came naturally to Richard. He could share his gift with others as he gave many dance exhibitions in a variety of places, rest and retirement homes, church functions, dances for different organizations and on television programs. He was a member of the LDS Church and became president of the LDS Special Interest Group in 1976-77.

In 1987, Richard owned his own dance studio. He had many special dancing partners who became choice friends over the years. He stayed active in dancing until his illness required he close his dance studio.

Richard loved to read, especially the Bible. He also loved playing golf and spending time with his two granddaughters, Jordyn and Kyleigh. He was a devoted, caring father to his three sons, Rick, Kerry and Robbie. He had a marvelous sense of humor and maintained it during his illness. About three years ago, he was employed by First America Title Company, but had to quit after one year because of his disease.

Surviving are his three sons, Rick Aggen, Las Vegas, NV; Kerry (Robin)Aggen, Littleton, CO; Robbie (Lisa) Aggen, Peoria, AZ; two granddaughters, Jordyn and Kyleigh Aggen, of AZ.

Richard is also survived by three sisters and three brothers, Marian (Blaine) Johnson, Eden; Betty (Tomm) Pertroff, Tooele; Robert S. Palmer, Bakersfield, CA; Gary (Marie) Palmer, Magnolia, TX; Gerald (Francis) Palmer, Roy; Geneva (Gordon) Townsend, Caldwell,TX.

He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Aggen and his mother, Evelyn Best Aggen Palmer.
