Edward James Merizon was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on May 4, 1916. He was the youngest son of Adrian Merizon and Nellie (DeYoung) Merizon. He passed away at the age of 18 months of diphtheria, on November 8, 1917. He was one of two children in this family that died during the diphtheria epidemic occurring in Grand Rapids that year.
