George Grant Johnson, 84 years, passed away on September 3, 2013 at his home in Ava, MO with his family by his side.
Grant was born February 25, 1929 in Vernal, Utah to George Elias and Sarah Emma (Smuin) Johnson.
Grant was a resident of the community for many years. He was a dairy farmer. On June 5, 1948 Grant and Opal Floy Slaugh were united in marriage in Vernal, UT and later sealed in Salt Lake City Utah Temple and to this union eight children were born.
Grant was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Ava, MO.
He enjoyed horses, telling stories, serving people and most of all being with his family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Grant was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Opal Floy, a daughter, Dana Long, a son, Morgan Johnson, four sisters and one brother.
Grant is survived by six children; Lorene Stubbs, Vernal, UT, Dell Johnson, Vernal, UT, Kent Johnson, Ava, MO, Carrie Shiflett, Vernal, UT, Darrell Johnson, Fordland, MO and Glendon Johnson, Ava, MO and 26 grandchildren; 53 great grandchildren; four sisters; Louise Ross, Kaye Farnsworth, Denell Hacking and Christa Baitman, many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Grant will be Sat., Sept. 7, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Ava, MO with burial in the Brushyknob Cemetery east of Ava. Visitation will be Sat., 10:30 a.m. to service time in the church. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO.
