Funeral services for Margaret M. Drummond, age 87 of Zephyrhills, FL and formerly of DePeyster, will be held Saturday (Sept 7, 2013) at 11:00am at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Heuvelton with Rev. Kevin O'Brien officiating. She will be laid to rest at Foxwood Memorial Park.

Calling hours will be held Friday (Sept 6, 2013) from 2-4pm & 6-8pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home. Mrs. Drummond passed away Monday Sept 2, 2013 at The Gulfside Center for Hospice Care Facility in Zephyrhills, FL surrounded by her loving family.

Surviving is her husband Norman; three sons Gordon & Cheryl Drummond of Inverness FL, Robert & Ann Drummond of Frankfort NY, Paul & Tammy Drummond of Ogdensburg; three daughters Mary D. and Allen Mathis of Corning NY, Diane D. and Larry Casey of Potsdam, Norma & Ed Henderson of Mechanicsville, VA; brothers & their spouses Emmett & Pat Green, Lewis Green, Robert & Dorothy Green; sisters & their spouses Frances LaGarry, Marlene & David Yateman, Phyllis & Charles Mousaw, Shirley Seguin; grandchildren Brian, Cori, Rachael & Lennie Drummond, Janice & Alison Ramsey, Nathan & Lindsay Drummond; step-grandchildren Doug Henderson & Stacey Wilson along with several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews & cousins.

Margaret was born on March 1, 1926 in Massena, NY, daughter of the late Robert V. & Mildred (Fregoe) Green. She graduated from Massena High School in 1943 and married Norman F. Drummond on May 25, 1946 at St. Mary's Church in Massena. The couple owned and operated the Drum-Ayr Farm in DePeyster from 1947 – 1994. In 1997 the couple sold the farm, moved to the village of DePeyster and wintered in Zephyrhills, FL.

She was a 4-H leader for many years, member of the Cooperative Extension Program Committee, Boy Scout Leader, member and president of the Heuvelton Central School PTA, member of the Home & Farm Bureaus, member for many years of the SLC, NYS & National Grange, and member of the Heuvelton Library Board and SLC, NYS and National Ayrshire Clubs. Margaret also worked as a teachers' aide at Heuvelton School and BOCES in Ogdensburg and was the town clerk of DePeyster for 10 years. She also was honored with the DeWitt Clinton Community Service Award in 1995.

Margaret enjoyed gardening, quilting, crocheting, reading, recordkeeping of family and farm records and dairy cow registrations, organizing projects, activities and sports' events of her children and grandchildren. In Zephyrhills she enjoyed shuffleboard, dartball, the kitchen band and the Ladies Club. Her struggles with health problems without complaining is an inspiration for family, friends and neighbors. She lived by putting others first and selflessly doing for others.
