Jim was born January 15, 1913 in Gallup, New Mexico, the eldest of two sons born to Giacomo and Margarita Zanna Serassio.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Emma; two sons, Jim Serassio, Jr. (Karen), and George Serassio (Darla); five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Frank, and his parents.
He was a devoted and loving husband and father who worked many long hours to support his family. He took great pride in his sons and grandchildren.
As a young child he spent about 10 years in Italy, with his parents where he became fluent in the Italian language and developed a deep appreciation for his heritage. Upon his return to the United States, he made his home in Lark, Utah. He was employed at Kennecott's Bingham Copper Mine. He worked for over 40 years at Kennecott before retiring in 1978.
He was introduced to Emma Ala by a mutual friend. They were married six months later on September 14, 1940 at St. Vincent Catholic Church in Murray, Utah. They have resided most of their married lives in Riverton, Utah.
Jim was a life long member of the Catholic Church. At the time of his death, he was an active parishioner of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 7405 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah, where friends and family may call from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on 30 August 2002. Immediately following the viewing a Vigil Service will be conducted. The Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, 31 August 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at the church.
The family wishes to thank IHC Hospice, especially Kathleen Morris, who came daily to see to Jim's comfort and to give strength and comfort to his family. She truly was our Angel of Mercy.
Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 South 1700 East, Sandy, Utah. Funeral Directors Broomhead Funeral Home.
