Joint rites were held for James H. Yates,44, and his wife Shirley (Burgin) Yates,50, Burlington Rt. 5, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Lunning Chapel. Aspen Grove Cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Yates, owners of the Sandwich Shoppe at 215 Jefferson, were killed Saturday January 22, in a traffic accident on Illinois 164 three miles west of Monmouth, IL. They had been married in Burlington in 1971.

Shirley (Burgin) Yates was born in Burlington on September 14, 1932 to Edgar and Elsa (Obermann) Burgin. Surviving: a son Michael Ringblum of Bettendorf, IA.; a daughter Pamela Ringblum of Denton, TX.; two brothers, Darnold Burgin of Wooster, OH. and Thomas Burgin of Burlington; and one grandchild.
