Funeral Service Saturday For Mrs. J. C. Blaisdell

Mrs. Sarah J. Blaisdell passed away at the home of her son, Ray Blaisdell, east of Bradford, on Thursday, after an illness of several weeks. Although past the fours score and ten, Mrs. Blaisdell enjoyed very good health during these years, and it was only recently that her declining health took its toll.

Sarah Jane (Blessing) Blaisdell, daughter of John and Mary Blessing, was born July 17, 1852 near Tiskilwa, Ill., and passed to her reward, January 25, at the age of 92 years, six months, and seven days.

On February 28, 1871 she was married to Joseph Chauncey Blaisdell, and to this union, four children were born, three daughters, Mrs. Mary Gerard and Mrs. Nellie Marsh of Bradford; Edith, who preceded her in death at the age of seven, and one son, Ray Blaisdell of Bradford.

On profession of her faith in Christ as her Savior she received baptism and was given the right hand of fellowship in the First Baptist Church on February 4, 1900, a few days less than 45 years ago. To this church she has been a devoted and loyal member, loving her Lord with all her strength. Funeral services were held in the Baptist Church at Bradford, Saturday afternoon, the edifice being unable o hold the large concourse of friends who had gone to pay their last respects. Rev. Warren Moyer, pastor of the church, was in charge of the service, and preached the sermon.

At the conclusion of the church service, the Bradford O. E. S. of which Mrs. Blaisdell was the last charter member, gave their impressive service.

Burial was in the Bradford cemetery, beside the body of her husband who had preceded her in death several years ago.

Relatives and friends attending funeral service for Mrs. Blaisdell were two brothers, Aaron and Charles Blessing of Tiskilwa, Mrs. Mary Steimle, Tiskilwa, Mrs. Roxana Linden of Princeton; Mr. and Mrs. Shaw Terwilliger and children of Milledgeville; Dr. and Mrs. H. E. Cooper and daughter Lois, and Mrs. Ralph Myers of Peoria
