Obituary:

Mr. Billy "Bill" Ray Burchette, age 86 of Winston-Salem passed away Sunday, September 1, 2013 at Springwood Care Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Burchette was born June 6, 1927 in McDowell County, W.VA to Guy Hillary and Grace Virginia Kinney Burchette. He was a member of Northwoods Baptist Church, a member of Old Town Masonic Lodge # 751 and a World War II veteran having served in the US Navy. Mr. Burchette retired from Hanes Corporation with 30 years of service. After his retirement from Hanes Corporation, he drove a school bus for WSFC School System for 13 years. In addition to his parents Mr. Burchette was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

Mr. Burchette is survived by his wife of 67 years of marriage, Olene Burchette of the home. Two daughters: Jayme (Larry) Earle of Morganton, NC and Lori (Tony) Campbell of Myrtle Beach, SC. Seven grandchildren: Zeke (Amber) Earle, Phillip Hutchins, Sarah Earle, Amanda Hutchins, Reanna (Josh) Pack, Jacob Campbell, and Ian Campbell. Two great-granddaughters; Savana and Maddy. Several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Burchette will be held Wednesday afternoon, September 4, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Northwoods Baptist Church in Winston-Salem by Rev. Jim Thompson. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. Military burial honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 290 of King. The family will receive friends at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall Tuesday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M.
