Rites Friday for Mrs. Joseph Elmore, Former Streator Resident
Mrs. Levi Roberts received word of the death of her mother, Mrs. Joseph (Martha) Elmore, 84, of Coffeen. Mrs. Elmore, who had been in failing health following a heart attack in March, died Tuesday at noon in an Alton Rest Home where she had been a patient for a week.
The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Coffeen with burial in a cemetery there.
The deceased was born in Bond county on a farm near Greenville, March 10, 1875, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Snow. Her marriage to Joseph Elmore took place at Coffeen where they lived for a time before coming to Streator. In 1943, they moved back to Coffeen. She was a member of the Baptist church at Coffeen.
Surviving in addition to Mrs. Roberts is a son, Lyman, a brother Joseph Snow of Pontiac, two brothers, and a sister at Coffeen, and 14 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1954, two sons who died in infancy, and a daughter, Mrs. Alfred Johnson, who resided at Streator.
