The funeral of Victor Ewers was held Sunday afternoon from his late home in Fenton township. The funeral was private. The service at the grave in the Erie cemetery was conducted by Rev. J.W. George of the Erie M.E. church.

Victor Donald Ewers, son of Edward F. and Mary Burns Ewers, was born in Fenton, Ill.. December 10, 1890, and passed away at his home in Fenton on December 12, 1918, aged 28 years and 2 days. His mother preceded him to the beyond on June 5, 1905, leaving him motherless at the age of 14.

He was married to Miss Ruby Young of Erie, June 2, 1917. He suffered from an attack of influenza, his death resulting from meningitis. His death is particularly sad as his wife and brother were ill with influenza so that they were unable to be with him in his last hour.

Of the immediate family surviving him are his grief-stricken young wife, his father, three brothers, Raymond, Guy and John of Fenton township, two sisters, Mrs. Allan Mathews of Round Grove, and Mrs. Arthur Guy who is assistant principal of the Erie high school during her husband's absence in the service. Besides the immediate family he leaves a host of relatives and friends who mourn his untimely departure.
