Obituary for Rev. Delbert Kirby

Thou O Lord hast led me singing to the cross where I fling down all my burdens and see them vanish, where my mountains of guilt are leveled to a plain, where my sins disappear, though they are the greatest that exist, for there is power in the blood of calvary to destroy sins.

Life has changed, not ended as D.L. went home to be with the Lord on September 1, 2013.

Born October 24, 1927, he is preceded in death by parents, Ferrell and Flora Kirby, wife Phyllis Sue Kirby and son-in-law Louis Milam.

He is survived by his daughter Betty (C.W.) Milam Phillips, grandson Michael (Laura) Milam and great grandsons Austin and Colby Milam.

He began his 50 years of ministry at the Akron Baptist Chapel and after pastoring other churches in Ohio, he taught bible classes at Hollywood Christian School in Florida for 12 years. He has served at Leatherbark Community Church, Broomstick Community Church and Steer Creek Community Church.

Calling hours will be at the Stump Funeral Home in Arnoldsburg Saturday September 7, 2013, from 11:30am until funeral services begin at 2:00pm. Rev. Roger Carter will officiate. Burial will follow in the Broomstick Cemetery.
